WHY WE CHOSE LAJARES ON FUERTEVENTURA AS THE LOCATION FOR OUR SURF CAMP

The idyllic town of Lajares is also known as “Surfcity”, as its infrastructure is well adapted to the needs of surfers. In addition, most beaches and coastal areas are within easy reach, allowing you to get to the best surf spots at short notice depending on the wave conditions. This saves us a lot of time when checking the different spots.

Every surfer and every surf school has to drive through Lajares at least once a day to make the most of the different coastal areas. Depending on the wind and waves, we need to reach the northern, eastern or western coast – this is the only way to adapt our surf courses to the individual abilities of our students. Our choice of Lajares as the base for our surf camp was therefore a deliberate one. We were able to establish one of the few surf camps here in the north of Fuerteventura.

Our Surf Camp in Lajares Is Your Place to Feel at Home

The centre of Lajares is very diverse. Here, you will experience a mixture of Canarian traditions and influences from many different nations. Charming cafés invite you to stay awhile during the day – whether you want to enjoy an affordable breakfast at “Café El Goloso” or have a lunchtime snack at “El Arco”.

The evenings are just as lively and varied. There are several bars with regular live music and plenty of restaurants, such as “Canela Café” and “The Return Bar”.

Getting around Lajares

The centre of the village is within easy walking distance of our surf camp, approximately 800 metres away. There is a large supermarket with a vegan organic section, as well as a meat and cheese counter. For shorter trips around the village or to the beaches of Cotillo and Majanicho, you can also hire bicycles.

Weekly Craft Market:Every Saturday, a handmade market takes place in the market square in Lajares. Locals and surfers offer lovingly made products and “goodies”. Local bands also play on the small stage and create a relaxed atmosphere.
